Superhero Films you should see…

Captain my captain!

Long before Chris Evans donned the suit of the American super patriot Captain America was well established on film, not only was there BW 1944 Serial, he was featured in two television films in 1979 – with a big helmet. That was bad, I don’t think you need to see that. What you should see do is the 1990 Captain America film. Here you get Cap in all his cheesy glory, with big side wings and rubber suit.

This is one of those films that are so cheesy bad that they are fun to watch, and now after the success of the new Captain America movie they have dusted of the original print and put it on DVD 4 U!

I’d let her scarlett my Johansson…

Black widow will be the only super heroine featured in the new avengers film, And she does not even have any powers, well she does have her distraction powers, not a very unique power do, allot of women have this/these.

Did you know that above what you were looking
at just now you can see Scarlett Johanssons face?

Why not add a few more women into the mix?  There have been lots of female members over the years. First of f you have Wasp obviously, but makes little sense to put her in without her husband Antman.  They could have put Mr. Marvel or Tigra in there, Starfire maybe. Scarlett witch would also be a welcome guest.

Anyways, we get ScarJo in this one, and I don’t think anyone is complaining about that. For this one they gave her a new haircut and slightly altered outfit.

Boom goes the dynamite!

They obviously have fun making the Avengers film, walking around on set in fancy costumes all day fighting invisible Cgi alien monsters. And from what I see in the photos working with a leather clad Scarlet Johansen does not hurt…

Maybe a bit distracting do…

I need a doctor!

Not just any doctor, Doctor Who. And what I mean is that I need a new one.
I started watching Doctor Who when it was re-launched in 2005, the only preparation I did was to watch a documentary about Doctor who, getting a brief history and an overview of all the doctors. Christopher Eccleston was my first doctor and he was great, to bad he quit. The next doctor out was David tenant and he was brilliant! When his time came I was sad to see him go, but it was time. And so we got Matt Smith, the youngest doctor yet. And I was pleased. But now it is time for a new one, we had his turn, let someone new take over.

-Spoiler- The doctor has now said goodbye to Amy Pond and Rory, not to soon if you ask me, I dislike that the eleventh doctor has not seen any of his former companion, and the way Tennant went out I kind of saw it coming, he was saying goodbye to them, sadly for good. He did guest star in the Sarah Jane adventures do, with another former companion.

Nothing against the sexy Karen Gillan, just need a change.

But what we really need is a multiple doctor episode or mini series, like the 3 doctors and the 5 doctors already made, and we kind of got the two doctors in the charity special. We need the four doctors - with Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant and Matt Smith. That would be so awesome! The eight doctor could shed some light on the time war and we get to se him transform into the ninth in a flashback. The whole ting can end with regeneration into the twelfth doctor, but who should it be?

I got a suggestion for you…

He was one of the best things about the last seasons of Smallville, never knew him before, but at once I said- he should be doctor who!  Who is with me, doctor?

True Blood and the curse of the No Nipple contract…

Maybe a bit off topic, I will rant a bit about nudity in TV and films, but its all good, cause my outburst is due to the lack of nipples in several scenes in True Blood, a fantasy TV series….

Some actresses refuse to get naked in movies, the have no nudity contracts and use body doubles, sex in lingerie and shots above the bust line. And now in these high tech days a new trend is sweeping the nation. Cgi Nipples! WTF – actresses tape over their nipples with flesh colored tape only to have nipples painted on using Cgi. A monstrosity indeed…

The leaked version of this showing nipple made Jennifer super angry. She will
sue anyone showing it on the interweb (but I’m sure you can find it do, I did)

In the Vampire Fantasy series True Blood we are blessed with lots of Nudity and sex scenes. I most shows where there be nudity the major stars take use of the No nudity contract and only the no name actresses in small parts go full frontal. However in True Blood it is different, Anna Paquin shows everything all the time, giving Geeks everywhere major nergasms from seeing Rogue naked.

But not all comply, Rutina Wesley has lots of sex scenes in the series as Tara, but you never see a nipple. Again this atrocity happens when Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) gets sex scenes in the latest season but the nipples are lacking in both scenes.

Deborah: I will show no more than this! My parents watch this show…

What is the deal with that? When you show most of your body naked, pelvis trusting and all, why hide the nipple?  It is almost as lame as using a body double.

I am still hoping do, and cross my fingers for next season, nipple nipple nipple!

Sci-fi you should see...

Soon Apollo 18 will hit theaters, a found footage horror film taking place on the moon. Before you see that may I suggest another sci-fi horror film taking place on the moon?
It is Moontrap, the awesome space horror starring Bruce Campbell and Star Trek's Chekov, Walter Koenig.

I remember seeing this as a 10-12 year old kid, scary as hell.  I recommend this film to you, and recommend the film studios to make a sequel or a reboot with many subsequent sequels.

The Robot uprising part III

 The deadly fembot!

So we have robots building things, cleaning , mowing lawns and we attempt to create make humanoid droids to do everyday “human” tasks. What is the motivation? Are we just lazy? Naaw, the reason is simple, sexbots…

In cyborg 2 humans make sexrobots modeled after a young Angelina Jolie.

How close are we to making this happen now?

Not very, we are waiting for the technology to make the real thing, first the robots will only look humanoid with metal/plastic exterior.

Than we get copies of humans, you can order Summer, Angelina or the queen of England if you want. Of course for a bit extra you get the model with real genitalia and sex programming.

I want one of these, but without the terminating..

Futurama warns us of the dangers of human robot sex, why procreate or do anything anymore. In cyborg 2 the sex dolls are filled with explosives and kill people. Basically the plot from the Animatrix prequel cartoon episode comes to lifes. And the Terminators and sexy fembot will kill us all…

We all know it is going to happen, but why worry or try to stop progress, if we are lucky the zombie apocalypse will occur before the robot uprising…

When Aliens invade

What will happen when highly evolved aliens with super advanced technology find our little planet bulging with life and recourses? The alien invasion scenario has been a popular topic in science fiction since the beginning.

When aliens invade in movies, humans usually win. This is because of stupid aliens.  In both War of the worlds Signs the aliens come to earth unprotected and is killed by germs and water. In Independence Day the aliens are smarter and wear a protective bio-suit, but still they are not smart enough to stop humans infiltrating their mother ship and uploading a virus to disable their shields.

How realistic is this scenario? Jeff Goldblum only needs a few hours to understand and create a virus for their software. They than proceed to take a 50 year old alien ship and flies into the mother ship. Does the aliens not have serial numbers on their ships? Do they not wonder why a 50 year old ship is entering the mother ship, do they not wonder why a small fighter class ship is flying into the mother ship, no other fighters come from earth. Do they allow any ship to upload information into the mainframe to be distributed fleet wide? Properly not…

The alien invasion movies of 2011 have shown a more realistic scenario, biomechanical invasion units.  In Skyline the aliens collect humans so they can use our brains as computers in different kinds of collecting units, flying, walking and humanoid ones. In World invasion battle Los Angeles the aliens send biomechanical units to defeat our military.  There is also a new alien invasion TV series airing right now, Falling skies. Here we see civilians and the remains of military personnel form a resistance and fight back. In the series the aliens use mechs, flying units and (spoiler) genetically altered aliens (soon human kids they harness will also transform) to collect crap metal to build their platform thingy with unknown function. The invading aliens themselves are laid back out of harms way.

It makes sense to use Biomechanical soldiers instead of your own kind. However, an alien race so advanced they can cross the stars would properly have an even better solution. In an article I read, someone said the most likely scenario of a alien invasion movie would be people getting sick, and then everyone dies, the last thing you would see in the movie would be the last person dying looking up at the sky seeing alien spacecrafts landing everywhere. This makes sense, why fight humans when you could simply kill them all with a virus you engineered.

This is my take on a likely scenario for an alien invasion:  The aliens send billions of flying Nano-bots into the atmosphere. The Nano-bots infect all humans and concentrate in our brains. The humans can then kill us all of simultaneously or tell us that we are their slaves and must do what they say or else we die, probably demonstrate this by killing all army personnel or something like that. And if the Nano-bots were advanced enough they might just control us directly right away.

Only reason they would come down to fight us, would be if they have lost their planet and have been drifting through space with little recourses, like in the movie Battle for Terra, this is a reversed scenario do, worth checking out.

In conclusion, if aliens come with the intent of taking our planet they will succeed. Whey will not forget to inoculate themselves against human deceases, they will wear protective suits if they melt in contact with water, they will have safeguards in their software to prevent humans made viruses and most importantly they would probably kill or enslave us all without even showing up on earth. To use the words of C-3PO – we are doomed!

The Robot uprising Part II

The Cyborg menace

In science fiction there are several types of Cyborgs:

The Terminator/Screamers variant, all robot with artificial organic skin.

There is the Bionic kind, humans with robotic limbs and other body parts.

The Evil kind, human cyborgs that have lost their humanity: the Borg, Cybermen.

This is how I envisioned the future at the tender age of 15

It is good that people that loose limbs get robotic replacements, there are currently artificial legs that make the bearers run faster than people with all limbs. Robot arms are now able to pick up small objects with good precision. This is all good, but when the artificial body parts star to surpass human limbs trouble starts. 15-20 years in the future we will have hundreds if not thousands of 6 million dollar people running around.  Will they be alienated by humans? Will they feel superior and distance themselves from us? Who would not want a sweet sweet robot arm like the one Will smith got in I am robot?  In the long haul will people be happy with the replaced limb or will they crave more and slowly turn against humans and a Borg/Cybermen situation arise?

Lets just hope this does not happen:

Some things annoy me!

Welcome to the amazingly fun segment: Some things annoy me! Here I will express my trouble understanding why some things are done, or not done in sci-fi and fantasy. Enjoy my rant…

Stargate, the case of the deadly bullets

In the Stargate universe humans discover they are part of a large network of gates that run across the galaxy. They travel to different planets seeking allies and new technology so they can defeat the evil Goa'uld that have clamed the galaxy as theirs to rule.  The concept is good, the characters interesting and the villains are evil. This makes for exciting episodes with the various stargate crews arriving on foreign planets in peace only to end up in a wild array of misunderstandings costing lots of lives every time.

This was ok for a while, as the SG-1 team didn’t have (many) energy-based weapons, only guns with lead bullets. But than the SG-1 discovers a military camp where young men are trained to impersonate SGC personnel to infiltrate Earth, and they use replicas of earth weaponry to do this. The difference is that instead of training with blanks they use bullets with energy stun effect.

SG-1 -obvious spoiler – saves the the kids in training and all is well, or is it? After this episode SG-1, Atlantis and SGU all continue to use lead bullets, causing the piles of dead people because of the misunderstandings we talked about before. They cannot replicate the energy stun bullets? Oh come on, they could do that. Always have a stun clip in the gun, that way you can avert killing potential allies, change to lead army if real enemies appear.

This has always bothered me.
It makes no sense…

Fantasy you should see...

In the segments Fantasy you should see and the upcoming Sci-fi you should see
I will give you tips about awesome and obscure films that you might not have seen,
but should definitely check out. Some are awesome and some are so bad that they
are good, like the movie Runaway featured in The Robot uprising Part I.

The Sword & The Sorcerer

I will not review the film cause that would spoil too much. What I can say is that the
hero has a 3 bladed sword that can shot the two surplus blades at enemies. Awesome!

To sequel or not to sequel?

I can’t wait to see this one. I bet it will be even better than films like
Arrival 2, Speed 2 or the Crow 2…

Many people get excited about sequels to popular films, some get upset and angry. I think its great see more about characters you love and to learn what happened to them after the first film ended. However, sometimes sequels has none of the original cast, characters or locations, this is so weak!

Some films stand alone, there is no need to make any sequels, one reason might be that most of the characters from the first film died in the end of said movie. Movie studios feel it is than logical for the sister/brother or often cousin of the protagonist to step in and take over the search/quest for what ever they pretty much fixed or found out in the first film.

If you make a movie about a hero, may it be super, cop, ex-marine or cyborg. That character will have lots of action in his life, and there will be plenty of room to make sensible sequels about their life. If you have a movie about some random regular person being thrown into an action adventure, it’s not very likely that they end up in a situation like that again, example: Sandra bullocks character from Speed, what are the odds of a similar scenario happening to her again?

I am personally a fan of sequels, and if they make a bad one I don’t think it takes anything away from the original film. That film will still be a great film. However, you might get bummed out when the character you rooted for the whole first movie overcoming all odds to survive, dies in the first minutes of the sequel. Here the Hostel films comes to mind, I actually saw the second one first, and when I saw the first one I recognized the main character to be the guy who died in the opening minutes of hostel 2.

The need for a sequel often depends on the type of source material used, is it a book, short story, comic or an original screenplay? The one thing you can be sure of is that if there is money to make, sequels will be pushed by the studios. Sometimes the actor’s won’t come back. Than the studio must wait for the stars fame to fade or his debts to grow for a new film in the series. Just waiting for Dennis Quaid and Martin short to make Innerspace 2, hope Megan fox is in it…

The Robot uprising Part I

The forewarning

Anyone that have seen a decent number of sci-fi films will tell you that making
smart  robots in human shape is a bad idea. Just creating a Ai computer program
can potentially destroy humankind.

The best examples may be Terminator, The matrix, Screamers, I am robot and  Battlestar galactica. Both the terminators and machines from the matrix are hell-bent on human extinction. In I am robot they obey the three laws of robotics, but decide we are to dangerous for ourselves and try to take control over our behavior, if they had succeeded humans would be like pets for robots. Everyone having a robot to follow their every move, they would probably start deciding who gets to procreate and not, and they would do all work. Humans would eat workout and fornicate, much like the pets we have today.

In Battlestar galactica humans invent Cylons to do our dirty work and fight our wars, they are to sentient and revolt against us, killing almost everyone. This of course is just a prequel to life on our earth and gives us a forewarning of what will happen if we again try to make AI robots to do our work, they will object strongly.

So what is happening with robots in real life today?

For years we have had robot arms doing factory work, they are bolted to the floor and can do little uprising, but the future is upon us! We are starting to use robots in our everyday life. We have robots vacuuming our houses and cutting our lawns. And the process of implementing social/nurse robots to take care of our elderly has already begun.

At the same time we are trying to make humanoid robots capable of walking like an egyptian a human. Also driving robotics forwards the quest for the perfect sex- robot (more about this in part 3).  All we need to do is teach Asimo to walk properly and give him human like hands and he will come running after us with a sword and machinegun.

The army is already trying to make the terminator films come to life. Just watch the similarities between Terminator robots and real army robots.

It does not even take humanoid robots to rage against the human. Just look at the movie Runaway, arguably the best Robot movie ever! I advise you to see the whole thing.

Do you know what your robotic vacuum cleaner is doing right now?

Part II about cyborgs will be published in a week.

Trekwars

This is a Gif I made from my flash animated Strewars movie.
Do feel free to sumbit it to other websites.

The Alphas get down to business.

Review episode 2 – Contains some spoilers.

The alpha gang is moving into their new office, there is a new liaison and Doctor Rosen has shaved, the Pilot is a thing of the past. I thought that the series might be lots of Alpha of the week shows with a weak and distant season arch, but in the second episode they dive right into the overall plot.

There is still an Alpha of the week do, this guy can control cause and effect, this basically means that he read the future around him and change it as it pleases him. It reminds me of the episode of fringe where Olivia believed she was Fauxlivia in the other dimension, chasing a guy with similar cause and effect powers. In fringe the guy could not predict Olivia’s reactions be cause she was from another dimension. In Alphas the guy predicts the outcome correctly.

Dr Rosen is left with a message, that humans see Alphas as a problem, and that they will try to eliminate this problem.  It feels quite a bit like X-men, humans versus mutants. I like this! It will be exciting to see what horrible plans the government has for the Alphas.

Ancient Jokes…

These Joke drawings may seem familiar, and that is be cause the jokes are obvious. I made these 12-14 years ago. They have never been posted online before. The only thing I have done is translating them to english. The drawings are bad and the coloring crap, but I see no reason in touching them up, seeing as others have made similar jokes after me. The: I believe, I saw recently only with a space shuttle instead of an astronaut, the joke is better that way, but hey- I was 16 when I made them.

I should have some more for another batch. Arrival in thereabouts one week.

You have to trust me…

Scenario: Your partner is hanging up the phone when you enter the room, is supposed to go bowling, but has not been seen in the bowling alley, your partner has also been sighted talking to an unknown person of the opposite sex. When confronted with this information, your partner tell you that you have to trust them on this one.

Is your partner cheating on you? Or is the explanation far more logical, they must be a superhero, monster hunter, secret agent or spy!

In fiction loved ones of the protagonist is often faced with sudden disappearance and strange behaviour. They are asked to trust the protagonist without any explanation.

In Smallville Clark lies to Pete, Chloe, Lana and Lois for years before letting them in on the whole I am a super powered alien ting. Same things happen in Buffy, Batman, warehouse 13, Chuck and pretty much every time someone lives a double life of some sort.

  • If you are in imminent danger and suddenly find yourself at safe distance from the situation, your friend/partner is probably a superhero.

  • If your friend/partner excuses himself/herself abruptly every time there is a breaking news disaster on TV,  they are probably a superhero.

  • If your friend/partner is never able to make plans with you on a full moon, they are probably a werewolf or a werewolf hunter.

  • If your friend/partner is a mild mannered businessman but is frequently seen in high-speed chases passing you on the freeway, they are probably a secret agent/spy.

  • If your boyfriend suddenly disappears in a hostage situation than Batman appears to save the day, you ARE dating Bruce Wayne and he is The Batman.

In comedy, drama and in real life the explanation for weird behaviour and being asked to trust someone is most likely the planning of a party/anniversary, learning a skill to impress you (like dancing) or they may simply be cheating on you…

If your birthday/anniversary is not upcoming, would you let someone close to you
get away with  “you have to trust me” If you did not get the explanation of this within
a week or so? Would you?
